Cerrig y Pigwn, 'The Peaks stones' is located on Trecastle Mountain in Powys (SN 833311)
below the remains of a roman hill fort known as 'y pigwn' and above the road between
Brecon and Llandovery. The main circle is approximately 76ft in diameter and made up of
28 small stones. South 54 degrees west of the main circle at a distance of 144ft is a
smaller circle of 24ft diameter with four large stones, one small stone and depressions
in the ground indicating a further three missing stones. An outer ring of 43ft diameter
is said to exist but I could find no trace of this. Southwest of this circle is a row of
small stones aligned tangentially to the southern edge of the main circle. 348ft
southeast of the main circle is a large recumbent stone aligned with the midwinter sunrise.
